Waking up each morning and being in the mindset to embrace the day for all it will bring you is not as easy as it may sound. With our minds running on overtime, distractions and expectations we sometimes lose sight that we have the choice to make the most of every day. Here are some tips to help you welcome each new day with an open mind and open heart.

  1. Relax: In the evening ease into your sleep by turning off the distractions—your smart phone, television, computer, etc., and relax with some deep breathing and letting thoughts flow through your mind and releasing them.
  1. Eat healthy. Try to clean up your eating habits. Pull back on sugars and carbs and drink lots of water.
  1. Exercise: There are many studies that show people who exercise regularly report to be calmer, happier and better equipped to handle what the day puts on their paths. So get out there and move—be it a brisk walk, a run or spending some time in the gym.
  1. Be present: Akin to reducing the distractions, pull back on the multi-tasking. Really engage in conversations and listen. And make eye contact.
  1. Participate: Stop being a bystander in your life. Participate in life instead of just watching it pass you by.
  1. Focus: On today and how you can do your best to live it to the fullest.
  1. Nurture your soul: Find time each day to feed your soul by embracing gratitude, laughter, hope, and faith.

8. Reset. Your next new day is filled with great potential and opportunity. Take time to reset and clear your mind             when you start to feel overwhelmed, agitated, frustrated or rushed. Even taking 5 minutes to sit quietly, get some        fresh air or close your eyes can help.
