Life gets busy. We all can get a bit tired or uninspired. We can lose our focus and even forget what it feels like to experience joy. So take a few deep breaths, calm your mind and body and think back to a time—maybe when you were a child—when you felt in the flow of things, immersed in what you were doing, where you felt comfortable, content or inspired. Think about where you were in a time and space when you felt joyous. Think about what you were doing. Tease out what brought you joy. Don’t over think it. Don’t think that it has to be something big or related to a significant life event. It can be something quite simple. farm-sun

Rediscovering joy in your everyday life is doable, and with just a few steps and with focus you will be on your way.

  1. Pay attention to your instincts and notice what feels right for you.
  2. Stop, think and refocus. When you feel a situation or someone stealing your joy, you have the power to turn that around.
  3. Be grateful and count your blessings.
  4. Remember the kid in you. Engage in an activity that is pleasurable and feels like play.
  5. Be kind.
  6. Surround yourself with things and people that bring you joy and peace.
  7. Do something where you lose yourself in it. For some it is cooking, doing a project, writing or simply sitting in the sun.
  8. Don’t try to be all things to all people.
  9. Rest.

Actively seek joy through inspiration. A way to get more joy into your life is to find it through activities that stretch your perceptions and take you out of ordinary day-to-day life.
